HURRICANE INCOMING!
Rita is
coming in strong. Right now she is a 5 on the 1-5 hurricane scale.
I am getting my 72-hour-kit ready. Currently its projected path is
going more north than east, which is good, but San Antonio has had major
floods in the past. Apparently all the water and non-perishables
are being wiped off the shelves all over the city. Rita's expected
landfall is Friday night/Thursday morning.
Also, my husband is in
Canada right now for business but will gladly be coming home on Friday,
a day earlier than scheduled. I am definitely glad for that.
I will post again to tell everyone I am still alive after this is all
gone and passed.

Happy Labor Day! Ok,
so it was yesterday. I admit that I am a little slow when it comes to
updates. I just really don't have anything worth saying right now.
Unfortunately I am not doing a whole lot with freelance work right now
because of my regular day job. Hopefully that will change in the
near future.
I would also like to say Happy (belated) B-day to my amazing husband!

Over the weekend I submitted
my final 3 illustrations for the children's book. My partner in
crime, also known as the writer, will be submitting it to different
publishing companies in the next month or so. I hope that
everything goes well. It's definitely a nerve-racking situation,
but at least we don't have a lot to lose.
Last night I was approached
about illustrating another book for the guy that sold us our new
mattress. His story is really well written and lends a lot of
inspiration for me. We'll see about doing that one.

I often feel like my life is
not interesting enough to write updates. I am not so incredibly
busy with freelance work that I have tons to tell you. Working
full time as a graphic artist leaves me little or no creative energy to
work at home. Maybe I should just make myself do a daily doodle.
Hmmm... there's a thought.
Also, I added a news
archive
cause this page was getting a bit long.
july 21.2005 : thursday
It's about 11:30 at night and I just finished yet another illustration for the children's book. I plan to revise my cover idea and work on one more illustration before the end of the month. Once the illustrations and text have been submitted to the publishers, I will post some of them on the site.

I got an email out of the
blue Sunday from an artist who's work I have drawn much inspiration
from. He was checking in to tell me that he was pleased with my
new site and that he wanted to exchange links. So the links page
has been updated. Go check out his work at
JohnTindel.com. I am sure you
can see the influence in my paintings.

Happy belated 4th everyone!
Mine was pretty good. My husband and I started the day by going to
our ward breakfast where we flew kites with a bunch of kids and had
great fun. At 2:00 we had lunch with family. At around 4:00
we ended up at our friends' house and watched Tarzan with their
daughter. It was my first time seeing it. Then we went rock
climbing, had Sonic for dinner, and watched Fireworks from the temple
parking lot. It was really great.
Update on illustrations: I
have an August 1st deadline that I am freaking out about. So,
enough with the updating, I better get to work!

I am disappointed in the
Spurs game last night to say the least. We are 2 and 2 with
Detroit and we still have one more game away before we come back home.
I am crossing my fingers that Sunday night's game won't be as
embarrassing as last night's was.
Children's book update:
I have completed the illustration for page one, but I plan to redo the
cover quite a bit. The original character design that I did just
wasn't right. She didn't seem to have enough personality. I
think my newer version definitely has more life in her and is less
complex than the first one. I won't be posting any images until
they have been submitted to the publishers.

Life has been a little crazy
lately, or at least that's my excuse. My mother-in-law is coming
tonight from Utah. She will be here for the temple dedication.
As for the children's
book... I really need to get back to it. I had some issues with
the style of character that I was using. I may post some sketches
as I work, but I don't really want to leak anything until it is sent to
the publisher. Also, I am working on a caricature to resemble
Rockwell's self portrait. It should be interesting.
may 6.2005 : friday
The book illustrations are
coming along. I have the cover nearly complete and my brain is
already forming images for the other pages. The hard part is
getting that image to come out on paper. Jeanne has written some
awesome stuff for me to work from. I really hope these books are
picked up because I think they are really great.

So...... ya ok, so I don't have
anything interesting to say. I have done a few paintings to sell,
but they seriously aren't anything new. They are just different
versions of stuff that I have already done.
Oh wait! Maybe
I do have some news. I got asked to work on a children's book with
a friend of a friend. I should start working on it very
shortly. I will probably post some art as I go along since I
rarely get this type of opportunity. Keep checking
back.

This week has been
productive. I was able to go to the temple twice. Last night
we went with our home teacher and met our best friends there. It
was so beautiful to see the stained glass at night.
On Wednesday I had to take the
last half of the day off to get my dishwasher fixed, and so I took the
opportunity to go downtown and file our new business name. Ya, my
husband and I are going to start a site to sell t-shirts and other fun
stuff. I will post information as it comes. It will mainly
by geek stuff, funny stuff, and art stuff. So keep checking
back!

tuesday
I just got home from an
incredible experience. Tonight my husband and I were able to take
my step-father, mother, and grandfather to the temple open house.
I honestly could not have ever imagined such an opportunity.
Seeing my mother there in the celestial room was a very moving
experience. So much so that I started to cry. These temples
really are sacred and special. They are not just buildings but
true houses of the Lord. I consider myself to be one of the most
blessed individuals on this earth.
in other news.....
I got my copies of FLIGHT volumes 1 & 2 today in
the mail. They are awesome and I haven't even read an entire comic
yet! I don't know how possible this is, and I may be shooting for
too high of a star, but I would love to be able to contribute to the
next volume.

I really need to keep up on
these updates more. It seems like when I remember to update, I
have nothing interesting enough to type. Currently I am in the
process of enrolling at school. The next session starts May
12th. I am going to go back to get my bachelors in graphic
design. I will doing school completely online and I just pray that
I will be able to balance full time work and full time school.
Wish me luck!
april 4.2005 :
monday
I actually did some new
art. It isn't anything great, but it is something. I was
just playing around with a new coloring technique that I found on Tony Cliff's
site.

april 1.2005 :
friday
Today was awesome. I was
actually asked by a member of my ward to come and help clean the
temple. I was more that happy to do that since I had never had a
tour of a temple, especially when no one else was there. It was
amazing. The celestial room is gorgeous, as was the entire
interior, and I loved seeing the stained glass from the inside.
This will definitely be an experience that I always treasure and
remember. This is something to tell my future children.

This weekend was great. I had
quite a few birthday celebrations with family and friends. My
husband bought me my first set of scriptures that are my very own.
I was so excited. He also got me a stuffed 'Peep'. (I really
love Peeps). We also had a wonderful Easter Sunday with
family.

What's new? This site is
new, that's what! I finally got tired enough of my old site to
redo it. I think that this design definitely is a better
reflection of me than the old one.
I am going to have all of the
old art and hopefully some new stuff up really soon. Thanks to
everyone for coming to check it out.
